In North Bangalore, AI Overviews are naming one doctor per clinic, not the practice

Type "dermatologist near Yelahanka New Town" or "spine surgeon North Bangalore" into Google today and the AI Overview at the top of the results rarely names a clinic. It names a person: Dr. Bindiya, Dr. Akshay Hari, Dr. Ramesh Iyer. For a solo practice that is a fine outcome. For a clinic built around two or three specialists under one roof, it means the AI Overview is deciding, on its own, which doctor the practice gets known for.

What the MagicSignal index measured

Between February and July 2026, the MagicSignal tracking index followed 21 multispecialty clinics across Yelahanka, Hebbal, Sahakarnagar and Jakkur that list two or more consulting doctors on their own website. Only 6 of the 21 gave each doctor a separate page with Physician schema attached; the rest listed every doctor on one shared doctors page with no schema markup at all. Of the clinics that showed up by name in an AI Overview for a doctor-specific query during the tracking window, 5 of the 6 with separate schema pages appeared at least once. Among the 15 without separate pages, 2 did. A citation counted only when the AI Overview text named the doctor by name, not just linked to the clinic's homepage, so a clinic could rank on Maps and still register as zero for this measure.

Chitra's Lifeline Clinic: two specialties, one page

Chitra's Lifeline Clinic in Yelahanka New Town is a clean example of the pattern. Dr. Akshay Hari, its neuro and spine surgeon, also runs Neospinex as a dedicated spine practice under its own domain, and that separation gives him a page built entirely around spine and cranial neurosurgery, with his Harvard and UCSF fellowship training stated plainly. Dr. Bindiya, the clinic's aesthetic dermatologist and cosmetologist with seven years of practice and memberships in IADVL and CDSI, has no equivalent standalone page: her credentials sit inside the clinic's shared doctors section, several paragraphs below Dr. Hari's. During the tracking window, Neospinex queries pulled an AI Overview citation naming Dr. Hari directly on 4 separate checks; dermatology and cosmetology queries naming Dr. Bindiya pulled none.

How four comparable clinics scored

The index also tracked four other multispecialty practices in the same corridor for contrast. Vantage Skin & Laser, a Yelahanka aesthetic dermatology clinic founded in 2018, gives each of its two dermatologists a dedicated bio page with Physician schema and pulled 3 citations across the window. Meridian Multispeciality in Jakkur, open since 2015 and built around family medicine and diagnostics, still runs on a single combined doctors page and pulled zero doctor-name citations, only two citations naming the clinic itself. NorthEdge Neuro Centre in Hebbal, founded in 2016, and Cauvery Spine & Ortho in Sahakarnagar, founded in 2013, split evenly: NorthEdge built separate pages in April 2026 and gained its first doctor-name citation within five weeks; Cauvery has not and has none.

What changed at NorthEdge Neuro Centre

NorthEdge Neuro Centre is the clearest before-and-after case in the sample. Through March 2026 its two neurosurgeons shared one bio page, and neither name appeared in an AI Overview for "neurosurgeon Hebbal" or related queries. In April 2026 the clinic split the page in two, added Physician schema with each doctor's fellowship and case-volume detail, and by the second week of May one of the two names was appearing in the AI Overview for that query on 3 of 5 checks. The clinic itself was never named in either version of the page.

Kavya, who was looking for a dermatologist near her office in Hebbal in June 2026, said she repeated the AI Overview's summary answer almost word for word when telling a colleague where to go. She had not looked past the top of the page. That is the part a clinic without a named doctor in the summary is missing, not a ranking position but the sentence a patient repeats to someone else.

Where this lines up with the ranking side
